During a podcast on Wednesday, MS NOW host Katy Tur claimed that President Donald Trump is taking on "far more" activities than former President Joe Biden did, following a New York Times report suggesting the president is showing signs of "fatigue."
"The Daily Beast Podcast" host Joanna Coles and Tur emphasized that Trump remains highly visible to the public, enjoys holding press conferences, and actively engages in public appearances more than his predecessor. Tur noted, "All eyes are on him; we are monitoring him moment by moment."
Trump reacted angrily to the Times' report titled "Shorter Days, Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities of Aging in Office," calling it a "hit piece" on social media. The New York Times defended their work, asserting the reporting is based on firsthand facts and that personal attacks will not alter their coverage of the administration.
Tur elaborated, "To push back a bit, he is doing much more than Joe Biden ever did," as highlighted by Mediaite. She added that Trump provides unprecedented access to the media, frequently appears on television, and remains mobile, participating in overseas trips and public events, including Halloween celebrations.
She stressed that evaluations should focus on Trump himself rather than comparisons to Biden. As the oldest elected president at 78, Trump continues to maintain a busy schedule, though domestic travel and rally appearances have decreased compared to his earlier term.
Reflecting on the Biden years, Tur recalled attending a Christmas party where Biden gave a speech that was hard to understand, highlighting a stark contrast in public communication styles between the two presidents.
The Times' analysis of Trumps schedule noted fewer public events than during his first term and suggested instances of the president appearing tired during certain Oval Office engagements. Trump frequently mocks Bidens stamina and cognitive abilities, which contributed to Biden stepping aside in the 2024 race. Trump also surpassed Biden as the oldest elected president in U.S. history with his 2024 victory.
Report contributions came from Fox News Brian Flood.
Analysis: Visibility, Access, and Claims of Fatigue
From my perspective, the central issue raised in this development is not the New York Times’ framing of fatigue, but the measurable level of public visibility and media access maintained by President Trump. Based on publicly observable activity, he continues to appear frequently before cameras, hold press interactions, and engage directly with journalists.
Katy Tur’s remarks underline a factual contrast in communication patterns between Trump and former President Joe Biden. Trump regularly conducts press conferences, participates in televised events, and undertakes both domestic and overseas travel. These activities are documented and exceed the level of public exposure seen during the previous administration.
The Times’ reporting points to a reduced schedule compared to Trump’s first term, which is accurate in terms of rally frequency and event volume. However, a reduced schedule does not negate continued daily visibility or sustained engagement with the media.
At 78, Trump is the oldest elected president in U.S. history. Evaluations of his performance are therefore best grounded in his current actions and availability rather than comparisons to his predecessor. The factual record shows a president who remains active, accessible, and consistently present in the public arena.
