During a recent appearance on Newsmax, New York-based neurologist Dr. Russell Surasky stated that President Donald Trump remains "highly cognitively capable" following an MRI scan that yielded "outstanding results."
On Rob Schmitt Tonight, host Rob Schmitt raised questions about the media's intense focus on the presidents mental acuity, noting that Trump had recently participated in a three-hour cabinet meeting and a one-hour press conference. Schmitt asked, "How is the president's cognitive function?"
Dr. Surasky responded, "Having monitored the president over several years, I can confirm he continues to demonstrate strong cognitive abilities. His recent neurological evaluation, including cranial nerves, motor skills, sensory response, and reflexes, all returned excellent results."
The neurologist added that Trump underwent the MoCA cognitive assessment, which examines eight domains of cognitive function, achieving a perfect score of 30 out of 30. Additionally, MRI scans of his brain, heart, and abdomen, along with MRAs assessing blood vessels, were all clear. "The question is not why he received these scans, but why the media is ignoring the positive outcomes," Surasky remarked.
Schmitt concluded, "It appears the results dont fit a certain narrative the press wants to promote."
Concerns about the presidents health have been voiced by some medical professionals in recent months. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the MRI findings on Monday, following public attention after Trump acknowledged undergoing the tests weeks earlier.
Analysis: Trump's Cognitive Health Under Scrutiny
The recent comments by Dr. Russell Surasky on Newsmax reaffirm that President Donald Trump is in strong cognitive health, citing a recent MRI scan with "outstanding results." Dr. Surasky, a neurologist, provided details of the president's neurological evaluation, which included tests on cranial nerves, motor skills, sensory response, and reflexes—all of which returned excellent results. Additionally, Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the MoCA cognitive assessment, a widely recognized test for cognitive function.
Despite these positive findings, the media's portrayal of the president's health continues to raise questions. Dr. Surasky pointed out that the focus should not be on the fact that Trump underwent these tests, but rather on why such positive results are being downplayed by the press. He echoed concerns that the media may be ignoring or selectively reporting on the outcome to fit a predetermined narrative about the president's mental acuity.
The White House has provided official documentation of the president's recent health screenings, including the MRI results, which counter the narrative pushed by some medical professionals and media outlets suggesting potential cognitive decline. As the debate about Trump's health intensifies, it is crucial to consider the full scope of his medical evaluations before drawing conclusions.
