Noem states Trump considering expanding travel ban to over 30 countries

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the Trump administration is considering broadening its travel restrictions to encompass more than 30 countries following a deadly attack targeting National Guardsmen.

I wont give an exact number, but it exceeds 30, and the President is still reviewing which nations may be included, Noem stated Thursday evening on Fox Newss The Ingraham Angle. If a country lacks stable governance, cannot identify its citizens properly, and cannot assist in vetting them, why should we permit entry into the United States? she added during her discussion with host Laura Ingraham.

Currently, travel is already restricted from 19 countries considered a threat to U.S. security: Afghanistan, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Yemen.

Noem did not confirm whether the expansion would reach 32 nations, despite Ingrahams question. Following the National Guard shooting in Washington last month, President Trump has implemented extensive immigration measures, including a pledge to temporarily halt migration from all so-called Third World countries.

The administration has suspended the processing of asylum requests from around the world. For individuals from the 19 countries already affected by the travel restrictions, Trump has indicated that their immigration cases may be frozen and that green cards could be revoked. He also suggested halting visa issuance to Afghan nationals, effectively closing the route for those who supported U.S. military operations to leave the country.
