The State Experiencing Serious Buyer's Remorse Among Trump Voters

A closely contested U.S. House race in Tennessee this week highlighted a notable trend: Donald Trumps appeal is waning, even in regions where he had strong backing during the 2024 election. Similar patterns are emerging in Michigan, according to Mallory McMorrow, a leading contender in the Democratic primary for the states U.S. Senate seat. (Her fellow candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, also recently joined the discussion on Right Now.)

McMorrow attributed the decline in Trumps popularity to his policy decisions, especially the increase in healthcare costs, which she linked to the administrations refusal to raise Obamacare subsidies. At 39 years old and currently serving as a state senator, McMorrow urged the Democratic Party to highlight younger candidates in future elections. She also emphasized that her background as an industrial designer gives her a distinct perspective within a party largely comprised of lawyers.
