South African President Cyril Ramaphosa described the United States choice to omit his country from next years G20 meeting as disappointing, signaling growing tension between the two nations.
The decision by US President Donald Trump follows his own absence from this months G20 session in Johannesburg, which he skipped citing allegations that South Africa is committing a genocide against white citizensa claim experts have widely dismissed.
Trump announced that next years summit, scheduled at a resort he owns, will be strictly by invitation, sparking concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the exclusion of countries that might not align with his views.
German Chancellor expressed disapproval, stating that the G20 should not be downsized without strong justification.
