Trump Reaches New Low, Refers to Governor as 'Seriously Retarded'

On Thanksgiving night, former President Donald Trump launched a fierce tirade targeting immigrants and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. At 79, Trump has exhibited increasingly unpredictable and confrontational behavior.
Earlier this month, he publicly insulted a reporter, calling her piggy. Last week, he accused six Democratic lawmakers who encouraged soldiers to refuse illegal orders of committing sedition. Trump also shared a post reading, HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!
On Wednesday, the president directed anger toward Somali immigrants after an Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., resulting in one fatality.
During a Thanksgiving press event, Trump clashed with a female reporter who questioned his claim that Lakanwal was an unvetted refugee. Trump labeled the reporter a stupid person. Afterward, he used Truth Social to attack Somali communities and Governor Walz, describing Walz as seriously retarded and asserting that most foreign-born residents in the U.S. are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.
Trump also made unverified claims about Representative Ilhan Omar, suggesting she may have entered the U.S. illegally. In a lengthy post, he criticized the impact of immigration on American society, citing social issues, crime, and urban decay, and highlighted the growing Somali population in Minnesota as an example.
He further suggested that Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation. At a Mar-a-Lago press conference, when a reporter noted that Lakanwal had been thoroughly vetted by the CIA, DHS, and FBI, Trump dismissed the vetting process and blamed the Biden administration, repeatedly calling the reporter stupid.
Hours after the National Guard shooting, CNN reported that the Trump administration had approved Lakanwals asylum application. The original report, titled Trump Hits Another Low, Calls Governor Seriously Retarded, first appeared on Mediaite.
Author's Commentary: Escalating Rhetoric and Its Implications
Former President Donald Trump's recent statements mark a clear escalation in confrontational and inflammatory rhetoric. Targeting immigrants and political figures, Trump has continued a pattern of personal attacks and unverified claims, including derogatory remarks about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Somali communities.
The timing of these comments—following the arrest of Rahmanullah Lakanwal in connection with a National Guard shooting—highlights a shift from policy critique to inflammatory personal attacks. Trump's dismissal of established vetting procedures, despite confirmation from the CIA, DHS, and FBI, undermines the factual context and amplifies fear and division.
This pattern is significant not only for its immediate political consequences but also for its broader societal impact. By framing immigration primarily in terms of crime and social decay, Trump reinforces narratives that could influence public perception and policy discussions, while sidestepping verified information. Observers should note the increasing intensity of these attacks and their potential to affect discourse leading up to the next election cycle.
