Former President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Trever Nehls, the identical twin of retiring Texas Representative Troy Nehls, for the 22nd Congressional District seat. In a post on Truth Social Thursday, Trump stated, It is my honor to endorse MAGA Warrior TREVER NEHLS, who is running to represent the incredible people of Texas 22nd Congressional District. Trevers brother, Troy Nehls, is a remarkable Congressman from Texas. The Nehls family are staunch supporters of our movement to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.
Trump highlighted Trever Nehlss background, noting his experience as a former Fort Bend County Constable and retired U.S. Army Colonel. Trever deeply supports our Law Enforcement, Military, and Veterans, and understands the wisdom and courage required to maintain LAW AND ORDER, he added.
Trever Nehls, who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, expressed gratitude for the endorsement on Facebook. I am extremely honored to receive support from our 45th and 47th President, Donald J. Trump. In Congress, I will work closely with President Trump to make his executive actions permanent law, he wrote.
Earlier, Troy Nehls announced he would not seek re-election. After over 30 years in law enforcementas a police officer, constable, Fort Bend County Sheriff, Army veteran, and six years in CongressI have decided, following discussions with my wife and daughters over Thanksgiving, to prioritize my family and step away after this term, he explained.
The outgoing congressman shared that he informed Trump before making his decision. President Trump has always been a strong ally to our district and a true friend, and I wanted him to hear it from me first. Serving this country in the military, our community in law enforcement, and this district in Congress has been the honor of my life, Troy Nehls concluded.
