The San Jose Sharks defeated the St. Louis Blues 5-4, with Gaudette scoring the game-winning goal 21 seconds before the final buzzer. The victory ended the Blues' three-game win streak and kept the Sharks in the Western Conference wild card race.

The San Jose Sharks secured a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues as Gaudette scored the decisive goal with just 21 seconds remaining, halting the Blues' three-game winning streak. The Sharks’ triumph was critical for their standing in the Western Conference wild card race.

Game Summary

Gaudette delivered the game-winning goal late in the contest, firing a wrist shot from near the left faceoff circle that slipped between Blues goaltender Joel Hofer’s legs. This final play sealed the Sharks’ 5-4 win and extinguished the Blues’ hopes for a fourth consecutive victory.

Macklin Celebrini was another key contributor for San Jose, recording two goals and one assist. At 19 years old, Celebrini, the No. 1 overall pick from the 2024 draft, reached 38 goals and 63 assists this season, becoming the sixth teenager in NHL history to achieve at least 100 points in a single season.

Sharks Goaltending and Record

Goaltender Yaroslav Askarov made 22 saves, helping the Sharks improve their record to 34-31-7 with 75 points. This performance tied them with the Seattle Kraken and left them just two points behind the Nashville Predators for the final Western Conference wild card spot.

Blues Scoring and Performance

The Blues were led by goals from Theo Lindstein and Philip Broberg. The team equalized at 4-4 with seven minutes and seven seconds remaining, when Broberg scored on a wrist shot past Askarov. Jake Neighbours assisted on two of the Blues’ goals. Despite Joel Hofer’s 24 saves, he could not stop Gaudette’s last-second strike, resulting in a 5-4 loss for St. Louis.

Standings After the Game

  • San Jose Sharks: 34-31-7, 75 points
  • St. Louis Blues: 31-31-11, 73 points

Looking Ahead

The Blues will face the Los Angeles Kings on the road in their next Western Conference matchup. The Sharks are scheduled to host the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. The outcome of this contest keeps the Sharks in contention for a wild card position, highlighting the competitive intensity of the NHL playoff race as the season nears its conclusion.
