During his tenure at Kansas State, Klieman compiled a 54-34 record, including a standout 10-4 season in 2022 when the Wildcats captured the Big 12 Championship. Klieman arrived at Kansas State after Bill Snyders second retirement in 2018, joining from North Dakota State where he led the Bison to four FCS national titles in five years, including a perfect 15-0 season in 2018.

Reports indicate that former Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein, currently Texas A&Ms offensive coordinator, is poised to succeed Klieman. Klein, 36, played at K-State from 2010-2012, earning third place in the 2012 Heisman Trophy voting. In his two seasons with the Aggies, Texas A&M has averaged over 36 points per game and 6.6 yards per play, with quarterback Marcel Reed accounting for 31 total touchdowns in 2025.
