PHILADELPHIA Travis Konecny, Noah Cates, and Bobby Brink each recorded a goal and an assist as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Buffalo Sabres 5-2 on Wednesday, marking the Flyers' fourth victory in their last five contests.

Additional goals came from Trevor Zegras and Owen Tippett, while Travis Sanheim and Matvei Michkov each contributed two assists, helping Philadelphia improve to 9-3-2 on the season. Goaltender Samuel Ersson made 24 saves in the win.

Buffalos goals were scored by Jason Zucker and Bowen Byram, with Colten Ellis stopping 30 shots. The Sabres, who had won their previous two games, fell to 6-4 on the season.

The Sabres struck first when Zucker scored on a power play 4:08 into the opening period, redirecting a pass from behind the net by Shane Doan. Philadelphia quickly responded, scoring three goals in 59 seconds to take a 3-1 lead before the midway point of the period.

Konecny tied the game with a power-play shot through traffic at 8:26. Shortly after, Zegras set up Konecny again, with the puck deflecting off Buffalos Ryan McLeod for Zegras 10th goal. Brink completed the rapid scoring sequence 21 seconds later by converting a rebound off a Cates shot.

Early in the second period, Cates extended the lead to 4-1 with a redirection of a Brink pass. Byram narrowed the gap for Buffalo at 8:12 of the period, but Tippett quickly restored Philadelphias three-goal advantage 55 seconds later.

The Flyers will face the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday at home, while the Sabres travel to Winnipeg for the second game of their six-game road trip on Friday.

Analysis: Flyers' Dominant Performance Propels Them to 5-2 Victory Over Sabres

The Philadelphia Flyers continue to impress, securing a 5-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. This victory is their fourth in the last five games, pushing their record to 9-3-2 on the season. The game was marked by a strong offensive display, with key players like Travis Konecny, Noah Cates, and Bobby Brink each registering a goal and an assist. The Flyers capitalized on a rapid-fire sequence, scoring three goals in just 59 seconds in the first period to take control early. Konecny’s power-play goal, followed by Trevor Zegras and Brink's contributions, highlighted the team's depth and scoring ability.

Despite the Sabres' early lead with Jason Zucker’s power-play goal, the Flyers answered back quickly, showcasing their resilience and offensive firepower. The Flyers’ defense also played a crucial role, limiting Buffalo’s opportunities and allowing goaltender Samuel Ersson to make 24 saves for the win. With the win, the Flyers continue to build momentum, proving their strength in both special teams and even-strength situations.

The Sabres, on the other hand, couldn't maintain their winning form after their two-game streak, falling to 6-4. Though they scored two goals, including Bowen Byram’s second-period strike, they were unable to contain the Flyers’ offensive outburst. Buffalo will need to regroup quickly as they face a tough road trip ahead, starting with a game against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

Looking ahead, the Flyers will face the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday, where they will look to extend their solid run. For the Sabres, the road challenge continues as they aim to bounce back on their six-game road trip.
