Alex Golesh: Auburn's staff will not be outworked

Alex Golesh, recently appointed as the head coach of Auburn football, is eager to implement his style of play at the Plains. In his first public remarks since the announcement on Sunday, Golesh acknowledged Auburns storied history and expressed his commitment to restoring the program to national prominence.

"Auburn Football has one of the richest traditions in college football, and my family and I are thrilled to become part of the Auburn community. This team will be led by players, and our staff will set the standard in effort and dedication. Auburn has a history of winning and is destined to compete for championships again. Lets get to work, Golesh stated.

Golesh comes to Auburn after guiding USF to 23 victories over three seasons, including two bowl wins. Known for his offensive expertise, he has consistently produced high-performing units. While serving as Tennessees offensive coordinator in 2022, Goleshs squad achieved the nations top ranking in total offense. During his one season at UCF in 2020, the Knights averaged 568.1 yards per game, placing second nationally.

His offensive approach has carried into his head coaching career at USF, where the Bulls have been among the top 20 offenses in two of his three seasons. In 2025, USF ranks second nationally in total offense, averaging 500.6 yards per game, and fourth in scoring with 43 points per contest. Quarterback Byrum Brown has been a standout under Golesh, accumulating 7,690 passing yards, 2,265 rushing yards, and 92 total touchdowns over three seasons. This year, Brown passed for 3,158 yards and rushed for 1,008 yards, becoming just the 12th player in college football history to surpass 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a single season.

Auburn has faced challenges in establishing a consistent offensive identity in recent years, and Golesh is viewed as the coach who could bring stability and success to the program.
