Christian Mahogany's Injury Update: Detroit Lions Guard '100%' Ready to Play in '25

Detroit Lions offensive guard Christian Mahogany is targeting a comeback after suffering a broken bone in his left leg, though he admits there are no guarantees. Hopefully next week, Mahogany told the Free Press on Monday, Dec. 1.

Mahogany, who exited a Week 9 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on crutches, six weeks ago, acknowledged the timeline is uncertain. Im trying, he said. Im doing my best. Maybe the week after, we dont know. It depends on how things heal, X-ray results, and how it feels.

Despite the injury, Mahogany is confident he will return this regular season, stating he is "100%" committed to playing again for a Lions team that has dropped four of its last seven games and currently stands at 7-5.

The Lions offensive line has faced challenges this season, and Mahoganys return could provide a boost. Drafted in the sixth round from Boston College in 2024, Mahogany started the first eight games at left guard, showing promise as a run blocker. He has been working with trainers and reports feeling physically strong and progressing well in his rehabilitation.

I felt a lot better after a full camp and spring, he said. Now I feel even stronger, more in shape, and healthier. My bodys had time to rest, so I can give 150% for my teammates.

Mahogany experienced early growing pains in his first year as a starter, especially after the Lions shuffled their line due to injuries, including left tackle Taylor Decker missing two games. He believes he was starting to find his rhythm before the injury and expects to adjust quickly upon his return.

I just want to contribute in any way possible, Mahogany said. If they want me in meetings, Ill be there. If they want me to play, Ill play. I know the risks, and Im going to return as soon as I can.
