On December 3, Miss Universe Thailand shared an official update on Facebook indicating that Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International, has filed a criminal complaint against Ftima Bosch, who was crowned Miss Universe 2025. The announcement comes after a widely discussed confrontation between Bosch and Itsaragrisil during a livestreamed event prior to the pageant on November 4.

During the pre-pageant gathering, Itsaragrisil confronted Bosch over her refusal to participate in a photo session intended for contestants social media posts. He claimed Bosch was following instructions from Mexicos pageant director rather than engaging with the Thai event. Bosch denied the accusation and tried to clarify her position, but Itsaragrisil interrupted the livestream, demanding a verbal confirmation from her regarding the posts.

The incident quickly gained media attention, with some outlets reporting that Itsaragrisil allegedly called Bosch a dumbhead. Miss Grand International issued a statement denying this, clarifying that he actually used the word damage. According to the organization, Bosch never corrected the misrepresentation, which they claim caused reputational harm to Itsaragrisil and fueled tensions during the 74th Miss Universe competition.

The Facebook post from Miss Universe Thailand, representing Itsaragrisil and MGI, emphasized that Boschs claims about being called a dumbhead were false and supported by voice recordings from the event. The statement also noted that Bosch continued to make inaccurate statements in interviews, allegedly for personal benefit, even after learning the facts. Itsaragrisil formally submitted a criminal complaint in Thailand on November 12, 2025, with photos of the multi-page filing shared online.

The post warned that any further defamatory actions could result in additional legal measures and requested media outlets to report responsibly, avoiding amplification of Boschs statements. Both MGI and Bosch have not provided further comment regarding the complaint.

Separately, Miss Universe contestant Melissa Sapini, representing Haiti, called for an independent investigation into the pageants conduct. Sapini described witnessing the November 4 confrontation firsthand and criticized attempts to dismiss the issue as a misunderstanding, labeling Itsaragrisils actions as dramatic and dishonest. She also condemned the legal action against Bosch, questioning when it would end.

Analysis: Legal Clash Shadows Miss Universe 2025

The recent criminal complaint filed by Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International, against Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Bosch highlights ongoing tensions in the pageant world. The complaint stems from a confrontation during a pre-pageant livestream, where Itsaragrisil claimed Bosch refused to participate in a scheduled photo session and allegedly misrepresented his words publicly.

Voice recordings shared by Miss Universe Thailand appear to support Itsaragrisil's version of events, disputing Bosch's claim that she was called a "dumbhead." The organization asserts that her continued statements caused reputational damage and prompted the legal action, filed formally on November 12, 2025.

The incident has drawn broader attention, with contestants like Melissa Sapini urging independent review and questioning the handling of disputes. The case underscores the sensitivity of public statements in high-profile events and the potential legal consequences for misrepresentation.

As both parties have limited public commentary beyond the filings, the situation remains unresolved. The pageant community is now watching closely for any further legal measures or clarifications, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in international competitions.
