Saudi Arabia is highlighting its historical significance in regional and continental trade with the upcoming opening of the Red Sea Museum. The museum, scheduled to open on December 6, is housed in the restored Bab Al-Bunt building, located in Jeddahs UNESCO-listed old town.
Visitors will be able to explore over 1,000 artifacts, ranging from Chinese porcelain and coral jewelry to navigational instruments and sacred manuscripts, arranged across 23 distinct galleries. The historic building itself, which once served as Jeddahs main port terminal, is featured as an exhibit, providing a direct link to the citys maritime past.
This cultural project aims to emphasize the historical depth of the Red Sea region, which in recent years has gained recognition for modern attractions such as luxury resorts, international film festivals, and Formula One events.
