National Highways reported that the motorway section between junctions 10 and 11 was shut at approximately 07:45 BST. The closure affects all southbound traffic near Luton Airport as authorities worked to manage the scene and ensure safety for responders and drivers.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix confirmed that the collision involved two vehicles: a passenger car and a motorbike. Police and ambulance units were dispatched immediately after the incident was reported. Emergency personnel remain on-site, assisting those involved and managing the situation.

Drivers traveling through this section of the M1 have been warned to expect delays of around 30 minutes. Traffic authorities established diversion routes to alleviate congestion and allow vehicles to bypass the closed section safely.
