Avian flu detected in wild birds at Clumber Park

The National Trust has reported that avian influenza has been identified in wild birds at Clumber Park. Visitors are being advised to avoid feeding any wildlife, especially birds, to keep dogs on leads throughout the park, and to refrain from handling sick or deceased birds.

Fishing activities on the lake have been temporarily halted until further notice, according to the Trust's Thursday statement. Officials emphasized that the threat to visitors and their pets is "very low," and the park, located near Worksop, continues to remain open and safe for public access.

The Trust further noted that "certain areas of the park may be temporarily restricted only when necessary, to aid wildlife monitoring and protection."

With more than 200 bird species residing in Clumber Park, the support of visitors is considered essential. "These measures will only be effective in limiting disease spread if all visitors adhere to the guidance, and a strict zero-tolerance approach is required," the statement added.
