A man in his twenties died after his car struck a tree on a major road in Northamptonshire. Authorities reported that the incident occurred on the westbound section of the A45, between Ditchford Lane in Rushden and Turnells Mill Lane near Wellingborough, around 21:25 GMT on Friday.
The vehicle involved, a grey Vauxhall Mokka, was heading towards Wellingborough in the outer lane when it first collided with the central reservation. It then crossed the roadway, mounted a grass verge, and ultimately hit a tree. Emergency services confirmed the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, an 18-year-old male seated in the front, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.
Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
