30-Year-Old Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing His Parents in Family's Long Island Deli

A 30-year-old man faces charges of murdering his parents at their Italian deli in Bethpage, New York.

Authorities report that Vito D'Ambrosio was arrested and charged with first-degree murder following a fatal stabbing at A&A Italian Deli and Pizza. His victims were identified as his mother, 62-year-old Angela Pulisciano, and his father, 70-year-old Antonio D'Ambrosio.

The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 4. Police stated that Vito allegedly entered a back room of the deli around 9 a.m., where he attacked his mother, stabbing her in the throat, and then assaulted his father.

Law enforcement found Vito in the delis parking lot with blood on his hands and clothing and took him into custody. Officials also mentioned that he had been involved in a prior incident at a nearby coffee shop earlier that morning, during which he allegedly inappropriately touched a female employee.

Records indicate that Vito had been estranged from his family and was under a court-issued protection order stemming from a domestic dispute with a sibling. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing an ankle monitor related to a separate matter.

One deli patron recalled that Vito openly admitted to the crime before police arrived, saying he had stabbed his parents.

The Long Island community has expressed support for the deceased couple, organizing a GoFundMe campaign to assist their remaining children with funeral expenses. Local residents described Angela and Antonio as devoted and kind-hearted individuals who had run the deli for over three decades.

"They were good people. This was tragic, really. They had a beautiful family," said Lorraine Decanio, a longtime customer. "They were just wonderful people. We've known them for decades and shopped here all the time," added Maryann Karageorges.

The GoFundMe page highlights the couples dedication, noting their love and commitment to the community. "Every cup of coffee, every egg sandwich, every warm smile all of it came from their hearts," the campaign reads.

Vito D'Ambrosio is currently hospitalized and is scheduled for a psychiatric evaluation. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of first-degree murder and is expected to appear in court on Dec. 9.
