Abraham Quintanilla Jr., Selena's father and manager, passes away at age 86

Abraham Quintanilla Jr., known for guiding the legendary Tejano singer Selena's career, has died at the age of 86. He played a key role as a songwriter and executive producer on Selena's music, including her Grammy-winning 1993 live album.

Following Selena's tragic death in 1995, Abraham dedicated himself to preserving her memory. He co-founded the Selena Foundation to honor her legacy and was instrumental in bringing her story to the screen. He produced the 1997 biopic Selena, which featured Jennifer Lopez as Selena and Edward James Olmos portraying Abraham. He later co-directed the 2005 concert film Selena Vive! and executive-produced the 2020 series Selena: The Series.

Abraham Quintanilla Jr. is survived by his wife, Marcella, his son A.B., and his daughter Suzette.
