At the recent 'Global Citizen Live' event, Burna Boy announced that he will take on the funeral expenses for four individuals who lost their lives in a mass shooting during a children's birthday party in Stockton, California, on Saturday.
In a public statement, the artist expressed his desire to support the grieving families financially. Hearing about the children killed in Stockton broke my heart," he said, adding that he contacted Wack 100 and Vice Mayor Jason Lee to offer assistance. "No family should endure such pain alone. I want to help these parents as they navigate the long journey of healing."
Vice Mayor Jason Lee commented, Burna Boys generosity shows that people worldwide want to help, even if they have never met the families affected.
The shooting occurred at a banquet hall during a birthday celebration on Saturday evening, according to local authorities. San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow noted that there may have been multiple shooters and that the incident seems to have been a targeted attack.
The victims included a 21-year-old and three children aged 8, 9, and 14. Eleven others were injured, with one person reported in critical condition. Authorities have not yet detained any suspects.
