The city council is set to celebrate individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the community. Among the honorees is Mr. Ghebre-Ghiorghis, who, since retiring, has dedicated his time to volunteering with the Southern Hospice Group, supporting organizations such as Martlets, St Barnabas, and Chestnut Tree.
Council leader Bella Sankey praised the efforts of Emily, highlighting her commitment to alleviating loneliness and improving the lives of countless residents who might otherwise feel isolated. "Emily's dedication has restored dignity to thousands of people in our community," she said.
Abraham was also recognized for his outstanding service, which has strengthened local democracy and held unscrupulous landlords accountable.
The council's awards aim to honor those whose voluntary work and civic engagement have left a lasting positive impact on the city.
