Authorities continue their search for Mortimer Wortman, a 22-year-old Rutgers University student, who has been missing for close to two weeks. Wortman was last observed on the evening of November 21 in a wooded region near High Bridge Road in Jackson, New Jersey.
His vehicle was subsequently discovered in the parking area of the Regional Day School in Jackson. Police and local officials remain engaged in efforts to locate him.
Wortman's older brother, Ivan Marks, reported that Mortimer was last seen with an acquaintance, who later raised the alarm about his disappearance. "We're still in limbo," Marks shared, describing the uncertainty surrounding his brothers whereabouts.
Rutgers University has confirmed Wortman is a student on their New Brunswick campus and stated they are collaborating closely with law enforcement. School representatives expressed concern for Wortman and his family, emphasizing their commitment to finding him.
As of December 3, a GoFundMe campaign supporting the search has raised over $17,000. The fundraiser describes Wortman as a "kind and unique person who is deeply loved."
Authorities describe Wortman as approximately 5-foot-10, weighing around 200 pounds, with light skin, dark brown hair, brown eyes, a nose piercing, and multiple earrings. At the time he went missing, he was wearing a black T-shirt, burgundy hoodie, and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about Mortimer Wortman is urged to contact the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111 and press 0 to reach a dispatcher.
Update on Mortimer Wortman’s Disappearance: Community and Law Enforcement Response
The ongoing search for Mortimer Wortman, the 22-year-old Rutgers University student missing for nearly two weeks, remains a critical issue for both local authorities and the community. With no significant updates on his whereabouts, officials are intensifying their efforts. Wortman was last seen on the evening of November 21 near High Bridge Road in Jackson, New Jersey, and his vehicle was later found at the Regional Day School parking area, but no further clues have emerged.
Local law enforcement continues to coordinate with family members, volunteers, and Rutgers University in a search effort that has already raised significant public attention. Wortman’s brother, Ivan Marks, remains in a state of uncertainty, describing the situation as being in “limbo.” Despite the passage of time, the case has yet to yield promising leads.
The emotional toll of the disappearance is evident, as a GoFundMe campaign set up to aid the search efforts has raised over $17,000 as of December 3. This fundraiser has resonated with many who knew Wortman personally, highlighting his character as a “kind and unique person” beloved by those close to him. The funds raised are being used to support search operations and related activities.
Authorities are still urging the public to report any potential information. Descriptions of Wortman have been widely shared, with particular attention to his distinct appearance and clothing. Anyone who may have seen him or has relevant details is encouraged to contact the Jackson Police Department immediately.
As the investigation continues, there remains a collective hope that the situation will soon resolve, but for now, the uncertainty persists, with no clear answers in sight.
