Senator Cory Booker, 56, has officially married Alexis Lewis, celebrating their union with two intimate ceremonies last week. The couple first exchanged vows at a courthouse on November 24, officiated by Judge Julien Xavier Neals of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. The courthouse event featured pastries from Calandra's Bakery and a vegan chocolate chip cookie dough cake from Papa Ganache Project in Matawan, New Jersey, according to Booker's office.

Following the courthouse wedding, Booker and Lewis held a private interfaith ceremony in Washington, D.C., attended only by family. The service was led by Rev. Dr. David Jefferson, Booker's pastor of 30 years at Newark's Metropolitan Baptist Church, alongside Rabbi Matthew Gewirtz of Temple B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills.

Booker shared on social media, "We said 'I do' in two places that shaped us Cory's beloved Newark and Alexis's hometown of Washington, D.C. first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful."

Lewis, 38, is Jewish, and Booker is Christian. Their wedding incorporated a chuppah, honoring Jewish tradition, and featured photos of their grandparents and deceased relatives. During the ceremony, Mariah Carey's "Emotions" played as they broke the glass. Booker described the celebration as "magical, meaningful, and strengthened by the extraordinary support of our friends and family."

Alexis Lewis works in real estate investment and was introduced to Booker in May 2024 by a mutual friend while she was visiting family in Washington. Their first date lasted over five hours, and although she initially declined a second meeting due to work, Booker convinced her to meet again the following night. Their early dates included dinner in Newark, attending the Broadway show "Suffs" in New York City, and a romantic walk in Newark where they shared their life stories and had their first kiss outside the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

The couple moved in together in April 2025 and fostered a shepherd mix named Cooke, with plans to foster more dogs. Booker reflected on his late father, saying, "Alexis is exactly the kind of woman my dad would have wanted for me. I often joke that she and my father have so much in common and that he must be smiling and laughing in heaven."

Booker proposed to Lewis during a trip to Hawaii on August 24, 2025, creating a memorable moment with Native Hawaiian musicians and a hula dancer performing one of Lewis's favorite songs, Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover."

Before meeting Lewis, Booker had been recognized as one of Town & Country Magazines Top 40 Bachelors and had a high-profile relationship with actress Rosario Dawson that ended in 2022. Booker, a Democrat, made history in March 2025 with a record-breaking 25-hour speech on the Senate floor.

Booker grew up in Harrington Park, New Jersey, excelled in football at Old Tappan High School, attended Stanford University on an athletic scholarship, studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and later earned a law degree from Yale. He served as mayor of Newark before being elected to the Senate in 2013.

Social media was filled with congratulations, including a message from Senator Andy Kim: "So happy for Cory and Alexis! Whenever I see them together, their love fills the room with joy. Congratulations on the journey of a beautiful life together."

Lewis reflected on their relationship, saying, "After so many years on my own, I'm not entirely sure I believed I would get married. But now, we've found each other at this stage of our lives, after epic personal journeys, and that deserves celebration. Joy shared is joy multiplied, and that's how our entire relationship has felt."
