New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is enjoying married life with his newlywed wife, Alexis Lewis. The couple, who announced their engagement in September, held two wedding ceremonies, expressing their heartfelt gratitude on social media.
We exchanged vows in two meaningful places, Booker shared in a joint Instagram post with Lewis on November 30. First at the courthouse, then surrounded by our families. Our hearts are full and we are deeply thankful.
The couple legally married on November 24 in Newark, New Jersey, during a civil ceremony witnessed by their parents. A few days later, they hosted a second, intimate celebration in Washington, D.C., followed by a family-only reception.
Booker, 56, first met Lewis, an investment director, in May 2024 through a mutual friend. After a successful first date in Washington, he persuaded her to delay her return flight to Newark for a second datea decision she fondly recalls.
My friends and I always say, Change your flight, change your life, and thats exactly what happened, Lewis told The New York Times. After years on my own, I wasnt sure marriage was in my future. Finding each other at this stage of life, after long personal journeys, is something to celebrate.
Booker, who previously dated Rosario Dawson from 2019 to 2022, shared similar sentiments upon announcing his engagement, calling Lewis one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life.
We are thrilled to start this journey together, enjoying every moment and feeling immense gratitude for the love and support surrounding us, he wrote on Instagram at the time. We are truly fortunate to be uplifted by such a wonderful community.
Reflections on Booker’s New Beginnings
Senator Cory Booker’s recent marriage to Alexis Lewis marks a significant personal milestone for the New Jersey senator, one that showcases the value of love and companionship at any stage of life. After announcing their engagement in September, the couple celebrated their union with two heartfelt ceremonies, beginning with a civil wedding in Newark, New Jersey, followed by a more intimate family celebration in Washington, D.C. The public’s glimpse into their relationship through social media posts only adds to the sense of genuine warmth that surrounds their journey together.
While Booker's career in politics has often been at the forefront of public attention, this personal chapter offers a refreshing contrast, as the senator embraces his new role as a husband. It’s clear that this union is more than a simple ceremony; it’s the culmination of two lives coming together after individual journeys of growth and self-discovery. As Booker and Lewis both express, the path to this point was not always clear, but their connection is one that feels destined—after all, as Lewis herself noted, "Change your flight, change your life."
For both, this marriage is not just the beginning of a shared future, but also a moment of reflection on the long roads they’ve each traveled to get here. The couple's candid reflections on their personal histories suggest that love, even when found later in life, has the power to transform one’s perspective on the future. For Booker, it’s a newfound sense of gratitude and an acknowledgment of the community that has supported them along the way.
Ultimately, the significance of their story goes beyond the headlines. It’s a reminder that love, timing, and the support of those around us play a crucial role in shaping our lives. Senator Booker and Alexis Lewis have found each other at a meaningful moment, and their shared future is one to watch not only because of Booker’s political career but because it is grounded in a partnership that speaks to the universal values of love, commitment, and personal fulfillment.
