GameStop's Trade Anything Day is on December 6th. Here's what you need to know.

On Saturday, December 6, GameStop will launch its inaugural "Trade Anything Day," giving customers the opportunity to exchange a wide variety of items for store credit. While trade-ins are a familiar part of GameStop's offerings, this event expands the options beyond the usual video games and collectibles.

Event Details

The special trade-in day allows participants to bring almost any item, as long as it fits inside a 20x20x20 cm box. Each customer is limited to a single trade-in. Upon participating, shoppers will receive a $5 trade card redeemable that day or at a later date. Standard trade-in items like video games or consoles will still follow regular valuation procedures.

Eligible Items

Items that fit within the size restrictions are welcome, including handcrafted goods such as crochet, knit, or sculpted creations.

Restricted Items

Some objects cannot be traded under any circumstances, including:

  • Hazardous materials, chemicals, or liquids
  • Lithium-ion batteries or products containing them
  • Weapons and ammunition
  • Animals, whether alive or deceased (except taxidermied specimens)
  • Alcohol, tobacco, illegal or prescription drugs
  • Computers (with limited exceptions for certain MacBooks) and other machinery like printers or scanners
  • Small electronics such as VCRs, DVD players, or digital music players
  • Explicit content or items resembling body parts

GameStop staff may also refuse any trade-in item at their discretion.

Record Trade-In Highlight

Shortly before the event, a customer in Grapevine, Texas, traded a PSA Grade 10 Holo Gengar Pokmon card, valued at $33,883, and received $30,494 in store credit. GameStop confirmed this as the highest single trade-in in the company's history, emphasizing the accuracy and fairness of their trade-in values.
