Luigi Mangione Found with Fake Name on Greyhound Bus Ticket During Arrest

Luigi Mangione, facing murder charges, appeared in a Pennsylvania courtroom on Thursday, December 4, where prosecutors introduced evidence including a bus ticket issued in a false name that Mangione allegedly carried at the time of his apprehension.

Among the items entered into evidence was a handwritten checklist, which an officer who responded to the scene stated suggested Mangione had intended to carry out an intel check-in the following day.

The 27-year-old was reportedly holding a Greyhound ticket issued to Sam Dawson, scheduled for travel from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh that evening. The ticket listed an assigned seat, as well as allowances for a carry-on and a checked bag.

Additional items submitted as evidence included a Visa gift card and a public transportation ticket. Reports indicate that Mangione had purchased USB drives and a digital camera at a Best Buy store the day prior.

Officer Joseph Detwiler, who responded to a 911 call at a McDonalds in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on December 9, 2024, testified this week, stating, I knew it was him immediately. The defense is seeking dismissal of the case, arguing that Detwiler violated Mangiones rights by questioning him before reading his Miranda Rights.

Mangione is charged with the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City during the early hours of December 4, 2024. He was taken into custody in Altoona, Pennsylvania, five days after the incident and has remained in detention. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to all allegations.
