A 26-year-old man is set to face trial in early 2025, accused of killing a nine-year-old girl in a town in Lincolnshire.

Lilia Valutyte was fatally stabbed in the chest on 28 July 2022 while playing with a hula hoop outside her mothers shop on Fountain Lane in Boston.

Deividas Skebas, formerly of Thorold Street, Boston, has denied the charge of murder during a prior court appearance. He recently appeared via video at Lincoln Crown Court, where he was informed that the trial, which could last up to 10 days, is scheduled to begin on 27 January.

A preliminary hearing will take place on 14 January to address trial arrangements.

In the aftermath of Lilias death, community members left numerous floral tributes at the junction of Fountain Lane and Fountain Place, and a service of reflection and prayer was held at St Botolphs Church in Boston to honor her memory.
