McIntosh resident killed in car accident in Washington County

On the morning of Friday, December 5, 2025, a fatal car crash occurred in Washington County, resulting in the death of a McIntosh man. The incident took place around 5:20 AM when the driver lost control of his vehicle, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Authorities identified the victim as 51-year-old William R. Pitts. He was driving a 2008 Cadillac CTS when the car left the road and collided with a tree. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed Pitts death.

The crash occurred on John Johnston Road, near the intersection of Shine Johnston Road, approximately 7 miles south of McIntosh. ALEA troopers have stated that the investigation is ongoing, but no further details have been released at this time.
