One person killed, two others stuck after trench collapses in Clermont County

A tragic accident occurred in Miami Township when a trench gave way, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving two others trapped. The incident took place at approximately 3:49 p.m. on Friday near 1187 Valley Forge Drive.

Clermont County authorities reported that three people were either partially or fully buried in the trench. By 6:04 p.m., officials confirmed that one man had died as a result of the collapse.

Two of the victims remained conscious and able to communicate, though they were still trapped from the waist down. Another victim, who was initially unconscious due to being fully submerged, has been partially uncovered. It has not yet been specified which victim succumbed to the accident.

Authorities indicated that the individuals were likely engaged in pipe installation when the trench collapsed, causing them to become trapped. Assistance was provided by the Hamilton County Urban Search and Rescue team alongside Clermont County personnel.

This is an ongoing situation, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
