Ray J taken into custody on Thanksgiving following report of domestic violence

Musician and actor Ray J, born William Ray Norwood Jr., was arrested in Los Angeles over the Thanksgiving holiday, authorities have confirmed. The 44-year-old was detained on November 27 after police responded to a domestic violence report, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Ray J faces charges under Section 422a of the California Penal Code, which involves willfully threatening to commit a crime that could cause death or serious bodily harm to another individual. Police reported that no injuries occurred during the incident, but multiple firearms were found at the location.

Following his arrest, Ray J was released on a $50,000 bail, as reported by ABC and the Los Angeles Times. The matter will now proceed to the district attorneys office. Representatives for Ray J have not provided a public comment on the situation.

This arrest adds to a history of legal challenges for the artist. In 2014, Ray J pleaded not guilty to accusations including sexual battery, vandalism, battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. These charges were related to an alleged incident at a Beverly Hills hotel bar.

Additionally, Ray J is involved in a defamation lawsuit filed by former partner Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner. The lawsuit claims he defamed them by comparing their actions regarding a 2003 sex tape to a RICO case involving Sean "Diddy" Combs earlier this year, according to reports from People and Variety.
