Sean Combs urges for conviction on interstate prostitution charges to be overturned in expedited appeal

Sean Combs' attorneys have filed an expedited appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals, seeking to overturn his conviction on interstate prostitution charges. The defense argues that the government failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove coercion, and requests immediate review of the case for a possible acquittal.

Attorneys representing Sean Diddy Combs filed an expedited appeal on Tuesday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, requesting immediate judicial review of his conviction on interstate prostitution charges. The defense asked the court to order his release without delay and either enter a judgment of acquittal or invalidate the verdict and return the matter for a new sentencing proceeding.

Combs is currently serving a 50-month prison term following a jury verdict earlier this summer that found him guilty of transporting individuals across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. While prosecutors previously pursued broader allegations involving racketeering and trafficking based on deception, those accusations did not result in convictions, leaving the interstate prostitution counts as the remaining basis for his sentence.

In their filing, Combss lawyers argued that the governments case failed to establish the essential elements required to sustain the verdict. They asserted that the prosecution did not present sufficient evidence to prove coercion, exploitation, or unlawful inducement, and instead relied on testimony that, according to the defense, showed consensual behavior among adults.

The appeal contends that the individuals involved, including Combss romantic partners and others, were willing participants who knowingly engaged in extended sexual encounters involving drugs. Defense counsel maintained that these interactions, described during the trial as freak-offs, were voluntary and mutual, and therefore could not legally support convictions under federal statutes governing interstate prostitution.

Lawyers further argued that inconsistencies and gaps in the governments presentation undermined the jurys findings and that no reasonable trier of fact could have concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that criminal conduct occurred under the applicable standards. Based on these arguments, the defense urged the appellate court to intervene swiftly to correct what they characterize as a legally unsustainable outcome.

The court has not yet ruled on the request for expedited consideration or temporary release. Until a decision is issued, Combs remains incarcerated under the terms of his current sentence, while his legal team continues to pursue reversal or modification of the conviction through appellate review.
