A serious crash on Sunday evening in Orange County left two people dead and two others hospitalized after a speeding sports car collided with a van. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Rock Springs Road and Alexandria Place Drive.

According to troopers, a 2023 Mustang traveling south with an eighteen year old driver and a seventeen year old passenger struck a 2021 Ford E350 van that was turning northbound. The van, driven by a sixty three year old man from Orlando, was carrying two elderly passengers who did not survive the accident.

Emergency crews shut down the intersection while medical teams worked to stabilize the injured. The two teenagers were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The vans driver lived through the crash, but his passengers, aged eighty one and ninety four, died from their injuries. One passed away at the scene, and the other died later at AdventHealth Apopka despite attempts to save him.

Authorities noted that four people involved were from Apopka, while the vans driver was from Orlando. Investigators are now reviewing the Mustangs speed and examining whether the left turn signal contributed to the crash. Skid marks and scattered debris provide early clues, but officials have not released further information.

Troopers indicated that the initial evidence suggests a lapse in attention, a mistake that has left two families grieving.
