Van driver taken into custody following injury to 27-year-old pedestrian

A man has been taken into custody after a pedestrian was struck by a van in Royston. According to Hertfordshire Police, the incident occurred on Old North Road between 22:30 and 23:10 GMT on Friday, involving a blue Vauxhall Vivaro and a 27-year-old man.
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital with injuries considered life-threatening. The van driver, a 29-year-old local resident, remained held by authorities as of Saturday.
Detective Inspector Jon Leak urged anyone who witnessed the collision, its circumstances, or who may have dashcam footage to contact the police.
