Authorities in west Belfast responded to reports of a suspicious device on Areema Drive, Dunmurry, at 12:40 GMT on Friday. The alert led to the evacuation of several nearby homes, with residents only able to return once the situation was resolved later that evening.
Specialist ammunition officers successfully rendered the pipe bomb safe and transported it for further analysis.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland released a statement saying, We recognize that many residents had to leave their homes during this public safety operation and we sincerely thank everyone for their patience.
Police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
