Video captures 7 Florida deputies 'capturing' 600-pound alligator

In Florida, it took a team of seven deputies to remove a massive 600-pound alligator from a road, according to footage shared by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 2, as the enormous reptile wandered along a local street.

Sarasota County, situated on Floridas west coast roughly 70 miles south of Tampa, saw the deputies work together to safely handle the situation. The 14-foot gator required the coordinated effort of eight people, including an experienced trapper, to lift it off the ground and place it into a pickup truck.

In the video, a deputy can be heard directing the team: "Get out of the way. Everybody, get out of the way. I need someone on that leg, right there. Go. Pick it up. Pick it up."

Earlier that day, the giant alligator had been resting on a resident's doorstep, seemingly enjoying a quiet break. The sheriff's office humorously noted that the creature had plans to stay for the holidays before they intervened, adding, "With a wave goodbye, we say, 'See ya later, Alligator!'"

The alligator, whose sex was not determined, was eventually turned over to a nearby alligator farm for safekeeping.
