Author's Analysis: Early December Snowfall in Greater Cincinnati

The approaching winter system will bring accumulating snow to Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky starting Monday night, with the heaviest impact expected during the Tuesday morning commute. According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, most areas will see 2 to 4 inches of snow, with Cincinnati itself likely receiving around 3 inches.

Road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly as the snow begins late Monday evening and continues overnight. Forecasters highlight the possibility of sleet or brief periods of freezing rain near the Ohio River, which could further complicate travel during the morning rush.

Residents should be prepared for slippery roads and plan for extra travel time on Tuesday. The Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 p.m. Monday underscores the need for caution, as widespread snow will taper off between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Following the snowfall, temperatures will remain below freezing into midweek, with mostly cloudy conditions and highs in the mid-30s to upper 30s, suggesting that snow accumulation could persist on untreated surfaces for several days.
