In a devastating incident in the Indian state of Goa, a fire at a well-known nightclub has resulted in the deaths of 23 individuals. Authorities report that a gas cylinder exploded, triggering the blaze. Many of those who perished were staff members likely working in the kitchen area.

The fire erupted around midnight on Sunday, December 7, in Arpora village, a popular destination in Goa. The region's Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, described the day as "extremely painful" and confirmed that an official investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

According to reports, the nightclub, named Birch by Romeo Lane, is located near one of Goa's busiest beaches in Baga. Among the victims were several tourists in addition to the club's employees. Authorities confirmed that three individuals died from burns, while the remainder succumbed to suffocation, and at least three of the victims were women.

Goa's Director General of Police, Shri Alok Kumar, stated that the fire was primarily concentrated around the ground-floor kitchen. He added that two bodies were discovered on a staircase and that all victims have now been recovered. Firefighters quickly responded and managed to bring the blaze under control.

The Chief Minister emphasized that those responsible for any negligence would face strict legal consequences. He expressed his deep sorrow and extended condolences to the families affected by this tragic loss.
