Bride-to-Be Blames Sober Friend for Failing to Stop Her from Cheating on Fiancé During Bachelorette Party

After attending her friend's bachelorette dinner, one woman planned a night out at a club. The bride-to-be decided to join, but after drinking excessively, she ended up in a compromising situation and later accused her sober friend of failing to prevent her poor choices.

Bachelorette parties are often portrayed as a bride's last taste of freedom before marriage, but one celebration took this notion to an extreme. During a night at a club, a bride-to-be cheated on her fianc and later held a friend responsible, expecting her to act as the "designated adult" for the group.

The sober friend shared her experience on Reddit, asking whether she was at fault for not stopping the bride from giving in to temptation. She explained that the bride, whom she called Elly, had a controlling and jealous fianc, which influenced the decision to keep the bachelorette dinner small and low-key.

After the dinner, the Reddit user planned to go clubbing with a few friends, including someone named Cloe. Elly decided to join them. "Cloe convinced Elly to take shots, using the last chance excuse," the Reddit user recalled. "Three hours later, they disappeared. I was the only one fully sober due to medical reasons."

After looking for them, she found Elly and Cloe kissing, surrounded by several men. "Elly cheated just weeks before her wedding," the Reddit user wrote. She intervened physically and escorted them to a taxi, which sparked further conflict.

The Reddit user confronted Elly about jeopardizing her future and also criticized Cloe for involving the bride in risky behavior. Cloe accused her of not being a true friend, claiming she was preventing Elly from enjoying herself.

The most surprising part came when Elly sided with Cloe, blaming the Reddit user. According to the post, Elly claimed she was at fault for not "taking care" of her and stopping her from giving in to temptation, because she was sober. Elly argued that the Reddit user didn't understand her and therefore wasn't a true friend.

Ultimately, the Reddit user questioned whether she was wrong for holding Elly accountable, refusing to act as the groups caretaker simply because she was sober, and intervening when the bride risked ruining her future.

Commenters on Reddit supported the sober friend, noting that all adults involved made their own choices. One wrote that the best response was to "walk away and find new friends" rather than taking responsibility for others' mistakes.
