Bus driver sustains serious injuries following HGV load spill

A serious accident occurred in the Highlands when a bus collided with debris dropped from a lorry. The incident happened around 21:30 on Friday on the A96 near Tornagrain, after cargo from a red DAF HGV fell onto the road.
The bus driver, a 56-year-old woman, was seriously hurt and taken to hospital, where she remains in care. The lorry did not stop at the scene, but authorities have since located the vehicle.
Police closed the A96 for approximately five and a half hours to deal with the aftermath, reopening it around 02:00 on Saturday. They are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
