Authorities have issued a warning for dangerous waves and debris on coastal roads as gale-force winds hit the Isle of Man. The Ronaldsway Met Office upgraded its weather alert from yellow to amber for the high tide on Friday night at 23:35 GMT.
Forecasters highlighted that Shore Road in Rushen, the promenades in Castletown, Laxey, and Ramsey, as well as the central and northern sections of Douglas Promenade, are most likely to be affected.
Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 60mph (97km/h) and are predicted to intensify throughout the day. The amber alert, active from 21:30 on Friday to 01:30 on Saturday, warns of moderate coastal flooding and a risk of substantial debris in exposed areas.
The severe weather has already caused disruption to ferry services between the island and Lancashire. The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has canceled the 14:30 Manxman sailing from Heysham to Douglas on Friday afternoon, along with the 20:30 return journey to Lancashire.
