Central Bedfordshire Council has announced a temporary pause on all dry recycling pickups. The interruption comes after a partner company, which operates independently from bin collection services, unexpectedly stopped its operations.
Residents are advised not to place their orange-lidded and green-lidded bins out for collection starting Monday. Tracey Wye, the councils executive member for sustainability and climate resilience, stated that efforts are underway to resolve the problem promptly.
"Our team is working tirelessly to address this situation quickly and reduce inconvenience for residents," she explained. "Updates will be provided via the councils website and social media channels as soon as we have more information."
The council anticipates the disruption will only last a short period. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to take recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, tins, and cans to their local Household Waste Recycling Centre, or to safely store them at home until regular collection resumes.
