Tonight, the moon will reach a remarkable proximity to Earth, coming within 221,813 miles, according to NASA. The full moon will peak at 8:13 p.m. EST, offering a stunning celestial display.
Known as the Cold Moon due to winters chill, this Supermoon may appear up to 30% brighter and 14% larger than the dimmest full moon of the year.
Viewing Tips
The Supermoon is visible to the naked eye in clear skies, though the difference in size and brightness can be subtle. No telescopes or special equipment are required to enjoy the spectacle.
Supermoon Frequency
Supermoons occur several times annually, typically three to four times a year. Tonight marks the third consecutive Supermoon of this year, continuing a series of lunar highlights.
Prepare to look up and witness the Cold Moon rising tonight, casting a luminous glow across the winter sky.
