Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, the former military advocate general of the Israel Defense Forces, was released from Tel Avivs Ichilov Hospital on Friday morning after almost a month of hospitalization.
Authorities indicated that she is likely to be summoned soon for questioning regarding suspicions that she leaked a video showing mistreatment at the Sde Teiman detention facility and subsequently attempted to conceal the incident.
Her interrogation had been put on hold while she was hospitalized following a reported suicide attempt at her home in early November, during which she allegedly ingested approximately 20 sleeping pills. Police Commissioner Daniel Levy had commented at the time that her actions must be investigated while noting the severity of her personal struggles.
Experts who assessed her during hospitalization warned that she was at significant risk of further self-harm, citing the intense public scrutiny and personal trauma she faced.
Investigators stated that the probe into the Sde Teiman video leak continues, and additional investigative steps are planned. Authorities intend to present Tomer-Yerushalmi with materials collected during the investigation, including evidence obtained from her hospitalization period and forensic data extracted from her cellphone, which was recovered several days after she went missing at a beach. Both the device and its cloud content have been reviewed.
According to sources familiar with the case, the inquiry has reached an advanced stage and a formal indictment is expected soon. The collected evidence is reported to strengthen suspicions against Tomer-Yerushalmi, and the Tel Aviv District Prosecution is leading further steps in the investigation.
This remains a developing situation.
