Identity revealed of man killed in east Belfast crash

Authorities have identified the man who died following a traffic incident in east Belfast on Saturday as John Atkinson, aged 71.
Police reported receiving notification around 22:40 GMT of a crash involving a Mercedes Vito and a pedestrian on Upper Newtownards Road. Mr. Atkinson, a resident of the Stormont area, was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Chief Inspector Simpson from the PSNI Collision Investigation Unit stated that the investigation is ongoing. The police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the accident or has video evidence to come forward.
