IHG Hotels & Resorts has unveiled its latest boutique property, Hotel Indigo Torquay, enhancing its luxury and lifestyle offerings across the UK. The hotel aims to cater to travelers seeking a coastal retreat in Torquay and is conveniently situated near attractions such as Torquay Museum, Princess Pier, Kents Cavern, and Torre Abbey Sands, with easy access to local transportation.

The dog-friendly hotel features 153 rooms and suites, each thoughtfully designed to echo the area's maritime heritage and seaside charm. Guest accommodations are equipped with amenities including Nespresso coffee machines, plush bathrobes, and premium Biology shower products.

Dining at Hotel Indigo Torquay is anchored by Root & Reef Bistro, which emphasizes cuisine inspired by regional fishing and farming traditions. Plans are underway for a rooftop bar, The Cast, set to open in early 2026, offering sweeping views of Torquay Bay.

Facilities at the hotel include a wellness suite with treatment rooms and a fully equipped fitness centre, ensuring a complete guest experience.

James Farley, general manager of Hotel Indigo Torquay, stated: We are thrilled to introduce the Hotel Indigo brand to Torquay, a destination renowned for its nostalgic charm and coastal beauty. The hotel combines a relaxed seaside atmosphere with a refined design aesthetic and a deep connection to the local community, embodying the essence of the English Riviera. We look forward to welcoming visitors to relax, enjoy comfort, and create lasting memories.

The property is owned by Singapore-based Fragrance Group and operated by IHG Hotels & Resorts. Koh Wee Meng, chairman and CEO of Fragrance Group, added: We are proud to open our first hotel with IHG Hotels & Resorts on the picturesque English Riviera and are excited about the potential of this partnership.

Last month, IHG announced a collaboration with Ristia Group to bring Hotel Indigo to Ubud, Bali, with an opening scheduled for 2027.

Analysis: Hotel Indigo Expands Coastal Luxury in the UK

IHG Hotels & Resorts’ launch of Hotel Indigo Torquay marks a strategic expansion of its boutique and lifestyle portfolio in the UK. Positioned in a prime coastal location, the hotel is designed to appeal to travelers seeking both leisure and cultural experiences, given its proximity to Torquay Museum, Princess Pier, Kents Cavern, and Torre Abbey Sands.

The property’s 153 rooms and suites reflect the local maritime heritage, with modern amenities such as Nespresso machines, premium bath products, and plush furnishings, highlighting IHG’s commitment to high-quality guest experiences. Its dog-friendly policy also broadens its appeal to travelers with pets.

Dining and leisure offerings further reinforce the hotel’s lifestyle positioning. Root & Reef Bistro emphasizes regional cuisine, while the planned rooftop bar, The Cast, and wellness facilities, including a fitness centre and treatment rooms, indicate a focus on comprehensive guest engagement.

Owned by Fragrance Group and operated by IHG, the property demonstrates a growing trend of international partnerships in boutique hospitality. The expansion aligns with IHG’s broader strategy, which includes upcoming projects like Hotel Indigo Ubud, Bali, set to open in 2027, signaling continued investment in lifestyle-focused destinations worldwide.
