Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau seem to have publicly acknowledged their relationship following their recent trip to Japan. On Thursday, December 4, Trudeau shared a message on X from Fumio Kishida, former Prime Minister of Japan, in which Perry was referred to as Trudeaus partner.
Former Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch, Kishida wrote, according to an English translation.
The post included a photo showing Trudeau, 53, and Perry, 41, standing alongside Kishida, 68, and his wife Yuko, 61, in front of a decorated Christmas tree.
Trudeau replied to the post, saying, Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.
This marks another milestone for the Dark Horse singer and Trudeau. Speculation about their relationship first emerged in July 2025, when the couple was spotted dining together in Montreal. Previously, Perry had ended her engagement with Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy, after a nine-year on-and-off relationship.
Trudeau and his former wife, Sophie Grgoire, separated in 2023 after 20 years of marriage. They share three children: Xavier, 18, Ella, 16, and Hadrien, 11.
Sources indicate that Perry and Trudeau are planning a collaborative project in the near future. According to an exclusive report on December 3, discussions are still in the early stages, but both are enthusiastic about working together. They want to be a power couple, the source stated.
Analysis: Public Acknowledgment of Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s Relationship
The recent trip of Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry to Japan appears to have confirmed the couple’s relationship publicly. Former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida referred to Perry as Trudeau’s “partner” in a social media post, which included a photograph of the two couples together. Trudeau responded warmly, highlighting both personal and diplomatic connections.
This acknowledgment represents a milestone following months of public speculation since July 2025, when Perry and Trudeau were first seen together in Montreal. Both have ended significant previous relationships—Perry with Orlando Bloom and Trudeau with Sophie Grégoire—and now share blended family responsibilities.
Sources also indicate that Perry and Trudeau are exploring a collaborative project, signaling intentions to develop a joint professional presence. While details remain limited, early reports suggest enthusiasm from both sides, reinforcing their positioning as a high-profile partnership both personally and publicly.
