Kate Middleton will celebrate the holiday season with her yearly Christmas carol service, Together at Christmas, set to take place at Westminster Abbey on Friday, December 5. The Princess of Wales, 43, will be joined by members of the royal family, including Prince William, though details on other royal attendees have not yet been confirmed.
In previous years, the couple attended with their three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. Kates family members have also participated in past services.
This year, the event will feature celebrity readers Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor, with additional readings by Babatunde Alsh and Joe Locke, who will be accompanied by pianist Paul Gladstone Reid. Musical performances will include Hannah Waddingham, Griff, Katie Melua, and Dan Smith, alongside a performance by the Cornish folk group Fishermans Friends. Waddingham continues her collaboration with the royal family through her support of Williams Earthshot Prize.
The Westminster Abbey choir will perform traditional carols, while eight young musicians, aged 3 to 18, from the charity Future Talent, co-founded by the late Katharine, Duchess of Kent, and Nicholas Robinson, will welcome attendees with festive music.
The theme of this years service is love in all its forms. According to Kensington Palace, the event will bring people together to celebrate love within families, friendships, communities, and even with strangers highlighting its power to reconnect across generations, cultures, and faiths.
The evening will also honor the causes and patronages supported by Kate and William throughout the year. Kate will reflect on her personal journey, including her announcement of being in remission from cancer earlier this year. Nature has played a significant role in her recovery, and horticulturalist Jamie Butterworth will design a festive outdoor setting at Westminster Abbey. The Royal Horticultural Society will contribute wreaths created with the help of ambassadors and schoolchildren for display inside the Abbey.
Alongside the main service, community carol services will be held at 15 locations across the United Kingdom, including Manchester, Berkshire, Newport, St. Davids, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, and Dumfries.
The service will be filmed for broadcast as Royal Carols: Together at Christmas on ITV1 and ITVX in the U.K., airing on Christmas Eve, with a repeat on Christmas Day.
Author's Commentary: Kate Middleton’s Annual Christmas Celebration Emphasizes Connection and Resilience
Kate Middleton’s Together at Christmas service at Westminster Abbey continues to underline her commitment to family, community, and shared values. This year’s theme, “love in all its forms,” reflects a deliberate focus on unity across generations, cultures, and faiths. The inclusion of celebrity readers and musicians alongside young performers from Future Talent demonstrates a balance between tradition and contemporary engagement.
The Princess of Wales’ personal journey, including her cancer remission, adds an intimate layer to the event. By integrating elements of nature in the Abbey’s décor and highlighting causes she and Prince William support, the service blends public celebration with personal reflection. The outdoor setting by horticulturalist Jamie Butterworth and the contributions from the Royal Horticultural Society reinforce a message of renewal and community participation.
Additionally, the expansion of community carol services to 15 locations across the UK shows an effort to broaden accessibility and inclusivity. The broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX ensures that the event reaches a national audience, maintaining the tradition’s public visibility while emphasizing shared values of connection, compassion, and festive celebration.
