Authorities have released on bail a man and a woman following the sexual assault of a female runner. The incident occurred along a pathway near Iliffe Way in Stowmarket, Suffolk, between 05:45 and 06:00 GMT on 19 November, according to Suffolk Police.

The 34-year-old man was detained on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape, while a 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender. Both have been granted bail while police continue their investigation.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10in (1.8m) tall, with a medium build. At the time, he was wearing a dark woolly hat, a heavy dark raincoat, and dark trousers. Suffolk Police have also issued an e-fit image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault, created with the assistance of the victim.

Earlier, a 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case but was released without charge two days later, and no further action will be taken against him, police confirmed.
