A 22-year-old man residing at a Falkirk hotel that accommodates asylum seekers has been brought to court on charges of two sexual assaults. Muhammad Sheikhi, whose address was listed as the Cladhan Hotel, allegedly assaulted a woman in Kerse Lane on Sunday. The charges include hugging the woman, kissing her on the face and lips multiple times, and touching her under her clothing, seizing her buttocks. Additionally, Sheikhi is accused of following the woman, obstructing her path, and repeatedly forcing her to hold his phone while demanding her contact information.
Sheikhi faces another charge of sexual assault in a separate incident. The case has been postponed for further investigation, and he has been remanded in custody. The Cladhan Hotel, located on Kemper Avenue, has recently been the site of frequent protests from both pro- and anti-immigration groups. In September, an investigation was launched after a brick was thrown through the hotel's window. The hotel began housing asylum seekers in August 2022.
