Netanyahu holds confidential meeting with Tony Blair to discuss Gaza Strip governance

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu engaged in a private discussion with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair regarding a potential pilot program for Palestinian Authority governance in segments of the Gaza Strip, according to KAN News.

The meeting, which took place last week, has not been officially confirmed by Netanyahu's office as of Saturday evening.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Blair is exploring the possibility of allowing the Palestinian Authority to assume administrative control over select areas in Gaza. The plan would start as a trial initiative and could be expanded permanently if proven successful, contingent on the PA implementing specific reforms.

Israel has not outright rejected Blair's proposal during discussions, including those with the former British leader.

Blairs involvement in Middle Eastern affairs has been highlighted before. He was suggested by former US President Donald Trump to lead a "Board of Peace" tasked with overseeing Gaza's administration. While this suggestion was declined by senior Palestinian officials in early November, Blair still held a meeting with PA Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh on November 23, addressing issues related to Gaza, the West Bank, and Palestinian statehood.
